About us

Hello, and thanks for visiting Happy & Glorious!
We are a small, independent company, lucky enough to be based in Canterbury, Kent. All of our products are made in the UK, to support British manufacturing, applaud British talent, and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.
My name is Kate, and I set up Happy & Glorious in 2012; the year of the Queen's Jubilee and the London Olympics. There was a real surge of happiness and optimism in the air, that we Brits are often a bit embarrassed to demonstrate.
My father is a farmer, and always instilled in me the importance of buying local. To a flouncy teenager, this was incredibly tedious of course, but as an adult, it makes total sense.
Mary Portas was also a marvellous source of inspiration; her challenge to re-ignite the British manufacturing industry fell in the same year, and with everything else going on, it felt like the stars were aligning. There are many wonderful things that we still need to import from around the world. But if we can create or grow it here, it's nice to keep it local.
Our products are sourced from all over the UK; found at trade shows, through social media, or made by talented friends. We also created our own collection of products, designed and made by us in-house. Our dried flowers are grown by Mama T in her garden and dried in her shed, and brought by train to Canterbury, where we hand tie them ourselves in the shop. There's a real joy in getting to know the people that create these wonderful things; it all feels very warm and fuzzy to sell products that you believe in, made by people that you know and love.
In late 2015, we opened a shop in Park Mall, Ashford, as part of Ashford Borough Council's regeneration scheme. In January 2017, we moved to a larger shop on Cranbrook High Street. In 2022, we moved to our fabulous space in Burgate, Canterbury. Come and say hello if you are in the area!
We hope you enjoy our collection of British-made products, and feel pleased to know that you have supported many small businesses when you buy them. Thank you.
